Embracing adventure on residential trips
Students from The Newbridge School recently enjoyed a series of residential visits, which allowed them to try new experiences and develop their confidence.Year 7 pupils took part in a bushcraft programme where they developed a range of practical outdoor skills. Throughout the week, students built shelters, practised safe cutting techniques, learned wilderness first aid and created their own paracord bracelets. They also enjoyed activities including archery, axe throwing and outdoor crafts, while teamwork challenges encouraged them to work together and think creatively.
Meanwhile, Years 8 and 9 headed off on an outdoor pursuits residential, where they tackled a wide variety of adventurous activities. Highlights included ziplining, crate stacking, laser tag, archery tag and orienteering. Students also learned valuable first aid skills and took part in Nightline, where they guided one another through a blindfolded course using communication and trust.
Across both residentials, pupils consistently demonstrated resilience, teamwork and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. Whether competing in Wacky Races, taking on a Gladiators challenge or helping to rescue a member of staff during an SOS exercise, students approached every activity with enthusiasm and determination.
The trips provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop new skills, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories away from the classroom.
We are incredibly proud of how our students represented The Newbridge School throughout the week. Their positive attitude and willingness to embrace every challenge made the residentials a huge success.
