AI Roadshow Wows Newbridge Students

In mid-March, Year 7 and 8 students at Newbridge were treated to a mind-blowing STEM Roadshow, courtesy of BAE Systems, the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. Marking 20 years of the programme, this year’s theme brought AI to life—and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

Students were mesmerised by a robot dog, an advanced AI-powered machine that responded to voice commands, navigated mazes, and even busted out some dance moves!

The excitement didn’t stop there—students also created their own AI-generated music videos, crafting lyrics and beats with cutting-edge technology. But it wasn’t all fun and games. A fascinating deepfake demonstration saw AI alter a presenter’s speech, revealing just how easily fake content can be created and how misinformation can be spread.

The session left students buzzing with excitement about AI’s potential while also encouraging them to think critically about digital content.

"It was a wonderful presentation which really showed the scope of AI and where it could lead to in the future," said Assistant Principal, Tom Barr.

The future of AI is here - and our students are ready for it!
