Newbridge Has Talent

It all started in May at The Harley Theatre in Coalville, where six Lionheart secondary schools went head-to-head in the first ever trust-wide dance competition; LET’s Dance!

The standard of competition was very high, but the Newbridge students certainly held their own, with Year 8 Amelie finishing in second place in the Juniors category. She astounded the judges with a fantastic solo performance to the song ‘Tightrope’ from The Greatest Showman.

Just three weeks later, and our musical students got their chance to shine at another annual Trust-wide event; Battle of the Bands!

A broad collection of bands from the eight Trust secondary schools gathered at The Cedars Academy in Birstall, each one looking to be named best band in the Lionheart Trust.

Once again, the Newbridge students were exemplary and their band, ‘Christian and Webbs’ blew the audience away with a brilliant rendition of ‘Barracuda’ by Heart. In fact, vocalist and lead guitarist Ella was rewarded for her stunning vocal display with the ‘Individual Outstanding Achievement Award.’

Then, in June, the Newbridge School Summer Showcase took place. It gave many students an opportunity to demonstrate their outstanding talents. There was singing, dancing, acting and musical performances with a variety of solo and duet performances.

A huge well done to all the talented students who have taken part in these events during the summer term.
